Attending a Lodge Meeting

Northern Star Lodge No. 377 usually opens in the Entered Apprentice Degree for Stated Meetings - except on ocassions when we are receiving the Grand Master of Masons in Texas, or our District Deputy Grand Master on his official visit.

The usual dress standard for all Lodge meetings is “coat & tie”, unless the event is specified as “casual”. We strive to create and maintain a proper atmosphere in the Lodge - one which will tend to focus our minds on the serious business in which we are engaged. If a Lodge Brother does not normally wear a coat and tie to his job, it can be convenient for him to carry them in his car, and so have them to wear into the Lodge. Since we regard the Lodge as a special place - set apart from our daily routines - so we desire, through our dress code, to reinforce that idea.

Any Mason may present himself at our door seeking to hold Masonic communication with us. We are happy to welcome him, share a meal with him, and make due examination into his Masonic status, according to our ancient customs. We welcome all visitors who are duly qualified, have a current dues card from a Lodge under the jurisdiction of a Grand Lodge that is in amity with the Grand Lodge of Texas A.F. & A.M., and who are willing to be examined under the direction of our Senior Deacon.

Stated Meetings

Stated Meetings are on the 1st Friday of every month, and are the meetings at which the Lodge conducts most of its regular business, holds elections, and makes most of the decisions affecting the Lodge.

We meet for hors d'oeuvres at 6:00 p.m. in the “Dillard Room” on the ground floor of the Dallas Scottish Rite Cathedral, after which we assemble at 6:30 p.m. in the “Blue Room” on the third floor to open the Lodge in due and ancient form. After the Lodge is closed, the members and their guests gather at a nearby restaurant, to dine and continue the fellowship with intellectually stimulating conversation.

In addition to official business, there is also an educational component to the Stated Meeting. This can take the form of lectures presented by Lodge members, guest speakers, or presentations from any of the various Masonic affiliated organizations.

Called Meetings

• Special meetings are called from time to time for a variety of purposes - including conferring the Degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, or Master Mason, presenting awards to Lodge members, recognizing the contributions of community members, and hosting programs that are educational or patriotic in nature. These "Called Meetings" can be scheduled at any time, and the families and friends of Lodge members are often invited to attend and participate.
